Hello James…….

Friday, October 7th, 2011

I have been promising for a while now to plug/mention the website of my good friend James McIntosh (not that he needs it, he gets way more hits and traffic than me, but then he is slightly cooler then I am, so stands to reason).

He writes rather fantastic cookery books, so fantastic he has in fact won awards (I on the other hand have an extensive collection of ‘took part’ trophies).

The books look cool on the shelf (my flatmate figured out the other day if you have the whole set in the correct order the spines combine to make a whisk image) and are actually really usable (even by a total kitchen retard such as myself). He also has an iPhone app (which I did have until I lost my iPhone (waiting for the new model before I buy again)).

So there you go James, you have been well and truly plugged (but I would be very surprised if you notice any traffic difference on the back of this. Lol). :oD

Thou Shall Not Covet…….

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

I’m not terribly religious…..in fact not at all really. But I am aware by way of popular TV and movie culture of the commandments passed down to Charlton Heston, specifically the 10th one, ‘Thou Shall Not Covet’.

However, seeing this at a friends place when I went for dinner the other weekend, I must confess to a brief passing moment when I was trying to work out how I could get it out of the house without being seen/noticed.

I want I want I want……

pills ?...... pills ?.......cigarettes ?.........

A New Taxonomy For Queens…….

Monday, September 27th, 2010

Reproduced with the kind permission of Hotpants of Kennington, who came up with the idea while out one night dancing…….clearly the music and the boys must have been very dull indeed !

All queens can be described by two adjectives, each of which describes their position on one or other axis of a two dimensional space.

The first adjective or dimension describes how well they carry it off. This is the Glamour dimension and ranges from Tragic to Diva.

The second adjective or dimension describes their attitude towards themselves. This is the Me scale and ranges from Painfully Modest to Totally Self-absorbed.

The two dimensional space created by these two axes can then be segmented into four quadrants by dividing each axis into two halves – Low and High. So we have…

High Glamour & High Me :

True Divas – we worship these people & with good reason. They are rare, but utterly fabulous.

Low Glamour & High Me :

Tragic Self-absorbed Queens – usually young & prissy with too much make-up & too many accessories. Sometimes they grow up & get over themselves, but more often they get hit by a bus because they aren’t paying attention.

High Glamour & Low Me :

Unassuming Adonises – hot, gorgeous, sexy & interesting in conversation, but at the same time endearingly down to earth. Ple-e-e-ease be my boyfriend…

Low Glamour & Low Me :

The Masses – most of us. Go out, get smashed, have a laugh & deal with the consequences tomorrow.

Bruce babe, you are a genius ;oD

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

Ahhhhh, another year older eh ! Yep, Stuface has managed to put another 12 months on his clock.

I won’t bother saying “I hope you have a nice day” as I know he is far too busy doing things arty to even notice the day going on, and yes I realise this is the same photo from last year, but I’ll get some new pics on Saturday and replace them then.

Stuface, Happy Birthday Dude !! :oD

Clint Died, Bye Bye Sunshine…….

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

A friend of mine died at the weekend :o(

I will never get to talk with him again.

His name was Clint Walters and he was only 31. He was something of a legend for me as he dedicated his life to helping raise awareness of the HIV virus for young people, having been diagnosed himself at the age of just 17 and finding very few resources for helping people of that age.

The first time I met him I knew who he was from my own volunteer work with GMFA, I had seen Clint on some adverts and posters. But nothing could have prepared me for the real thing. This guy was *SO* upbeat and optimistic, all the time. He was sunshine personified, that’s the only way I can describe him.

I made it a point when ever I saw him after that to always project the same optimisim and cheerfulness, even when I didn’t feel much like it, if he could smile all the time then so would I.

He was completely selfless and battled for a long time to get funding for a clinic and support centre in London. I remember conversation with him about it, he still did not let it get him down, he just smiled and said he would find a way to make it happen.

He passed away on Sunday 4th April from a heart attack. I hope he is still smiling where he is now.

Clint you will be missed by many :o(

Addendum:

The Independant has an article here regarding Clint’s passing
